Awesome Racecar Toy

My daughter and I found this racecar toy at a field where we usually run around:

It is actually a really nice toy, and if I had lost it, I'd be sad. I'll probably ask a few of my neighbors if they know who lost it.

Where is the Mustang in today's racing scene?

Today's racing scene doesn't seem to have much room for the Mustang. If you disagree, please comment below!

I say this because I feel that racing is more about real power and performance as opposed to image, and I believe that Ford has relied upon the image of the Mustang as a "cool car" for way too long.

I used to own a Ford Mustang Cobra II, which I feel was the last cool Mustang they made, and I'm aware that many people would say that the Mustang II was a total abomination. I loved the way my Mustang drove because I worked on it so much, and I loved the way it looked because it was the fastback model. I thought the sedan looked ridiculous.

The new Mustang GT looks very nice, but I haven't driven one so I can't say how it handles.

The Ford GT, on the other hand, is freaking awesome. I expect you'd agree.

Car or Motorcycle?

Have you seen the new vehicle from the joint partnership between GM and Segway? I'm wondering... is it a car or a motorcycle?

It only has two wheels, so I believe technically (in linguistic terms) it is a motorcycle. Since the wheels are horizontally opposed, I bet that it will be marketed as a vehicle for the perception of safety.

At any rate, its good to know that the makers of the Segway are alive and well. The Segway has very cool technology, but I'm too much of a fan of walking to think about using one.

Indy Car Racing

A friend of mine recently took a vacation to China, and while there she got to see an Indy Car race. I'm jealous! I've been to a few stock car races and thought that was cool, but the Indy Cars go so much faster.

She said the sounds were thrilling - I'm sure.

No Enclosed Motorcycles

I recently learned, thanks to an article about how Zap the car got zapped in Massachusetts, that there is a law against enclosed motorcycles. Doesn't that seem illogical to anyone else?

I would think that if anything were outlawed, it would be motorcycles without enclosures.

From Go-Karts to NASCAR

Hyper-Aware

A friend of mine enjoys motorcycles, owns one, and rides regularly. Not all the time though, she also has a car ( a Chrysler Crossfire ).

When I visited her in Las Vegas recently, I inquired whether or not she was ever fearful about crashing. She said yes - and that the fear keeps her hyper-aware of other drivers, so that she can avoid their sloppy driving skills!

That made sense to me, but I still wouldn't drive one myself. At one point I might have had the dexterity and quick reaction time, but I'm not so confident these days - too cerebral.

Donorcycles

Let's face it, motorcycles are dangerous. Anything with a nickname like "donorcycle" has GOT to be dangerous. But people love them. Why? Because of the speed, power, and freedom. Still, I won't ride them, too much for me. I prefer computers. :-)

Decarli Racing

Decarli Racing was at one point a motorcycle racing team from Italy. This is their expired domain, which I snapped up. Rumors are abound about the positive or negative value of domains, but I figure it you hold on to them long enough they'll be more useful than abandoned. Somewhat off-topic, if you haven't noticed, GoDaddy has hired indy racing Danica Patrick as their new spokeswoman. That's great for her to get such a big sponsor.
